Iryna PONEDELNIK, Belarus
PROJECT: Belarusian Sustainable Development Lab

Iryna is a science communicator and SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) Advocate from Belarus. She is a founder of the initiative “Youth for Sustainable Development in Belarus”. In 2022 she coordinated the development of an Alternative Report on SDG implementation in Belarus. Her research interest includes citizen science, unofficial resources of statistical information and public participation for SDG implementation monitoring

In her previous experience she consulted UNICEF and UNSSC. Currently she is a board member of CAN EECCA where she represents Green Network (Belarus). She works as a manager in climate education and communication projects.

The document that presents the SDGs is called Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. From the name we understand that to achieve goals, a major change, reform, is necessary, at the personal, group, state and global levels. My project is dedicated to monitoring the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in Belarus. This year the UN is focusing on the themes of hunger and poverty, climate change, human rights and digitalization. These are pressing problems for every country, and, particularly, in the case of Belarus.” – Iryna Ponedelnik
