PROJECT: Mind the Gap: Transparency & Accountability Learning Ride for Inclusive CSOs

Marta Smyrnova is a Project & Communications Manager renowned for her work in social, inclusive, and cultural initiatives. With a legal background, she’s enhanced her qualifications as a certified youth worker and participated in the British Council’s “Active Citizens” programme. Her notable contributions include her work at “America House Odesa” and founding a theatre for deaf youth in Odesa.

In her current position as the Programme Manager at “Surdo School” NGO, she leads efforts to increase inclusivity in Ukraine. In 2022, she engaged in research at the University of Maastricht and earned an Akademiestipendiatin from the Academy of Sciences and Letters in Mainz, Germany. She is now pursuing a master’s degree in European and International Studies at Université Lumière Lyon 2, France.

Currently, she is a research scholarship holder at Central European University, focusing on the rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs) during the full-scale war. Moreover, Marta mentors volunteers at the “City of Change” social project accelerator by the Ukrainian crowdfunding platform My City, demonstrating her commitment to driving societal progress through accessible and innovative projects.

Fellowship Summary: The Fellowship project seeks to address the critical issue of inadequate accountability in Ukraine’s CSOs concerning funds allocated for disability-related initiatives. The aim is to rectify this by leveraging the experiences of French and Latvian CSOs to establish robust accountability mechanisms. Selected CSOs will be supported to pilot the mechanisms.
